CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW FOLLOW UP

Here we have Vicki and Stan - superb cacti growers from West Bromwich who won their 7th Gold medal at Chelsea 

Currently my favourite in the herbaceous border Geum (Mrs Bradshaw). Just planting this in my garden along with other plants spotted at Chelsea, oh - and another new rose variety.





How about this selection - my spuds have never been this good!

What a day! Never in my fourteen years of attending the Chelsea Flower Show VIP Mondays, have I experienced such cold winds and showers.  So glad the marquees offered shelter.  Anyway, planned my route  carefully and managed to see some of the world's most beautiful plants, trees and shrubs, albeit some suffering a little from this extraordinary weather. More pics to come over next few days.

 

 

Princess Zara and Peter - seem to like sitting  on lawn mowers - I would have liked to have joined them, but could have created mayhem with my doubtful directional skills!

BROADCASTING FROM BRENTWOOD - POWER OF THE PRESS AND RADIO FANFARE

Book Club time again! Yesterday we just managed to tuck in the April edition broadcast from Phoenix 98fm studio in Brentwood.  Susan Hegedus was our author of the month with her newest book Diabetes Type II for Real Men.  This is a kindle book, full details of which can be found on her interesting website  www.susan.hegedus.com. 

Many of my author friends (some 35 of them who have agreed to broadcast over the last few years), have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of presenter Michelle Ward at Phoenix.  Her morning show is Eat My Brunch in which she generously gives us the opportunity of spouting about our books, articles and various writing assignments via radio publicity. This is so necessary when you consider the tens of thousands of aspiring authors in this funny old competitive business of earning a living from the pen (or keyboard in this case). Forgot to mention the added bonus of Susan's flute rendition on the programme, now that's different, isn't it?
